The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being demoted in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.
“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach remarked.
“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”
He added, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:
“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”
He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”
Slot expressed regret over familiar failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.
“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones stated.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”
He went on, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club for years.”
“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with outcomes like these.”
Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we will always fight.”
“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”
“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
