Chopper Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Trees at Frequented California Shoreline

An aircraft hovering over a crowded California beach suddenly started spinning uncontrollably, ultimately losing altitude and plunging into a row of palm groves as onlookers watched.

Videos posted online depict the helicopter starting to spin near the beach then descending in the direction of the edge of the beach, where it gets stuck amidst palm groves and a steps close to the Pacific Coast highway.

Rescue Operation Details

The Huntington Beach fire department said five individuals were taken to hospital including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” following the crash on the weekend.

Three individuals on the street were hurt. Details on their wounds were not yet released.

The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
