Air travel have recommenced at Edinburgh Airport following a significant ATC system failure brought the international hub to a standstill.
Every arrival and departure were suspended because of an IT issue that was reported at approximately 08:30.
Some passengers were left waiting in planes on the runway while the issue persisted.
Officials announced at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".
Nonetheless, significant disruption are likely to continue throughout the day. Flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been cancelled, with a host of additional flights experiencing delays.
A spokesperson had earlier anticipated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.
"Passengers are advised to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," was the consistent advice.
The airport attributed the full ground stop to an IT issue with its air traffic control provider.
Travelers are still being urged to check the status of their journey before traveling to the airport as backlogs are worked through.
