Los Angeles Experiences Historic High Temperatures Only Days After Major Winter Storm.

After enduring significant rainfall that resulted in floodwaters across sections of the city, the City of Angels is now confronting unseasonably high weather for the end of February.

Record-Shattering Readings

On Friday midday, the mercury climbed to ninety-one degrees Fahrenheit in central LA, as reported by the National Weather Service. This breaks the prior high for February 27th, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was set in 2025.

"Exceptionally warm weather" were labeled on official charts for the region.

Public Health Alerts

Authorities stated that Friday's weather posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their advice featured:

• Drinking plenty of fluids.
• Avoiding outdoor activities during the afternoon hours of the day.
• Never leaving kids or animals unattended in a car.

A Dramatic Shift

This sharp rise in heat comes on the heels of a massive winter storm that battered the state last week. That system unleashed heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to mountainous regions, causing flash flood warnings for countless residents.

Unfortunately, the conditions also triggered a massive avalanche in the Tahoe area, which resulted in nine fatalities.

Weekend Outlook

Looking ahead some relief is expected. Temperatures were predicted to decrease to around 61°F (16°C) in central Los Angeles by late Friday.

Several cities that hit ninety degrees were Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Elsewhere, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were projected to experience the upper eighties.

For the weekend, central LA can expect temperatures in the eighties, with a further cooldown likely for the following week.
