The Oscar-nominated performer the celebrated Diane Ladd left us aged 89.
This actor, with filmography included National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, left this world in her residence in Ojai, California. The news was announced in a statement shared by her child, award-winning actress her daughter Laura Dern.
Her daughter, who appeared with her mom in a number of films such as Wild at Heart, referred to her as “my wonderful hero plus my special gift being my mom”, stating that she was by her side when she passed.
“She was the greatest mother, daughter, grandmother, actress, artist along with compassionate soul that only dreams could have seemingly created,” she wrote. “We were lucky to have her. Her spirit soars with angels.”
The start of her career included minor parts in television programs such as Gunsmoke whereas that decade featured her performing with Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.
In the same year, 1974, she shared the screen with Ellen Burstyn in Scorsese’s acclaimed dramatic comedy Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, a classic. Her role landed Ladd an Academy Award nomination as best supporting actress.
