Charli XCX is preparing for a major cinematic onslaught in 2026, starting with the mockumentary titled The Moment.
Within the project, Charli portrays what she calls as a hell version of herself.
It’s the realest depiction of the music industry that I’ve ever seen, the performer remarked.
She clarified in a conversation: This isn’t a concert film, however the inspiration came from the pressure to create one.
The debut trailer, launched on this week, mixes real clips from her recent tour with fictionalized backstage scenes.
The Moment is directed and co-written by Aidan Zamiri, who revealed that the narrative revolves around a world where Charli made entirely different choices during the publicity of her chart-topping release Brat.
The film is only one of many upcoming movie projects for Charli, who already featured in three cinematic festival entries recently.
She also played herself in the Amazon series Overcompensating.
The following year will also see Charli together with Olivia Wilde in erotic drama I Want Your Sex, Natalie Portman in creative industry mystery The Gallerist, and Barbie Ferreira in scary reboot Faces of Death.
She also agreed to star in the actress’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.
I am really enjoying my acting journey, Charli shared. I feel very, very inspired right now in this area, and I solely aim to pursue things that inspire me.
Next February will also see the debut of the filmmaker’s version of Wuthering Heights, which will showcase fresh tracks from Charli.
She will also create the soundtrack for the story Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, planned for launch next year.
The Moment will be released on January 30.
